Volunteers Needed: February 18th, 2012

A number of our members have asked how they can help out and take advantage of our Volunteer Discount Membership program. I'm happy to report there is an event coming up that needs volunteer help and will earn you discount coupons towards your 2012-2013 membership costs.

On February 18th from 12 noon to 4pm, we will be preparing more than 500 Membership Renewal forms for mailing. This includes the folding, sealing and stamping of pre-addressed 1-sheet double-sided forms. We'll be providing all supplies and refreshments will be available. For each hour of participation, 1 coupon good for a $10 discount on membership renewal will be provided. Up to 4 coupons (3 towards membership, 1 towards either Junior membership or Indoor Range access) may be earned at this event.

In the case of inclement weather, this event may be rescheduled for February 25th. Please check this website for the latest information.

Thanks in advance for your volunteer support, and we look forward to seeing you!

2012/2013 Membership Application and FAQ

The Membership Renewal date is rapidly approaching, and the 2012/2013 Membership Application and Renewal form is now available right here.

We've also created a "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) document for prospective members interested in joining the club, focusing on requirements and the induction process. If you're interested in joining the ACF&GA, please review the document at this link. We'll be updating it periodically as we come across questions that it didn't answer.

Thanks!

Happy New Year!

Although our New Year's wishes are a bit belated, they're heartfelt. And we don't want to forget . . . a sincere Thank You to our ACF&GA members for their financial and volunteer support!

Here's a brief look back at some of what we accomplished in 2011:

  • Cleanup, Fence Removal and Grading of the ACF&GA property bordering Perkins Ridge Road
  • Grading and Expansion of the Plate and Rifle Range Parking Area
  • Acquisition of Wireless Call System for both Trap Houses
  • Installation of Heat in the Plate/Rifle Range Warming Hut
  • Earthwork to Renovate Rifle, Plate and Short Berms
  • Earthwork to Implement a Dedicated 5-Stand Range
  • Widening and Grading of the Range Access Road
  • Creation of a Member Discount Program through Cabela's Corporate

None of the above would have been accomplished without the volunteer and financial support of our members. We're extremely grateful, and look forward to accomplishing even greater things in 2012!

A Wednesday Night of Shooting

Starting February 11th 2012 and continuing every 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6pm to 9pm, the Auburn Rifle Club in conjunction with the ACF&GA will be presenting a members-only shooting event at the ACF&GA Indoor Range. All ACF&GA and ARC members are invited to attend, regardless of qualification for Indoor Range use. There will be a nominal fee of $5 per person for this event. There will be limited availability of eye and ear protection, so please bring your own if at all possible.

The event will use .22 Rifles and .22 Handguns; the ARC will provide firearms to use or you may bring your own. If you do bring your own firearms, please bring ammunition that you know will function properly with them; many .22 caliber firearms are fussy about what they will shoot.

There will be at LEAST Five lanes set up with Instructors, each dedicated to one the following disciplines:

4 Position Target Rifle

  • 4 Position intro
  • Shooter Choice of Position

Standing with Plinker Rifles

  • Paper Silhouettes
  • “fun targets”

Supported Pistol/Revolver

  • Basics and Grouping

Two Hand Pistol/Revolver

  • Basics and Grouping
  • Grip and stance(NPA)
  • Trigger Resetting/Pairs

National Match Pistol

  • Course of fire
  • Grip and Stance(NPA)
  • Aiming Options: Irons or Red Dots

Up to 5 additional lanes will be open for RSO-monitored .22 shooting.

We hope you'll find these sessions fun and educational, and we look forward to seeing you there!
