As many of you know, there have been incidents of vandalism at some of the Gun Clubs in the Central and Southern Maine areas. This has had me greatly concerned; I don't want the same thing to happen at the ACF&GA. For this reason, I decided that clearing the brush, brambles and vines from the fence at the front of theĀ property would be in our best interest; there's a lot less incentive for mayhem when it has to be done in plain sight from the road.
On Sunday, August 15th, a group of volunteers got to work on the cleanup and I think the results speak for themselves. We've improved the visibility for the parking lot and clubhouse tremendously, and at the same time we've indentified some potential issues with the current fence that bear discussion.
I'm looking for ideas on how we might renovate or replace the fence with something a bit more attractive while maintaining necessary security for the club property. Please feel free to share your ideas at our upcoming club meetings.
I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the group of volunteers that spent the better part of Sunday on this project: Chip Hedrick, Mark Ferguson, Ed Stanhope and Jeff Drumm put in a lot of effort and even unintentionally donated some blood (the brambles were nasty). Thanks Guys!
Ed Nichols, President, ACF&GA
